Technology behind mattresses, pillows and blinds

The use of new, sophisticated technologies and materials helped in making pillows and mattresses softer and more comfortable to get good sleep. Inner spring mattress, air mattress, latex mattresses, waterbed mattress, memory foam mattress are some of the new technologies in mattress.

In inner spring mattresses, there are hundreds of coils wound from wires in various gauge lengths acts as springs, and over that, there will be padding of foams, for giving softer feeling.

In air mattresses, there are different sections where it is possible to fill air. By varying the air level in various sections, it is possible to change the firmness of the mattress. Similarly air pillows are produced. For latex mattress, latex foam is required. As the resilience of natural latex is not good, by processing Dunlop latex, it is possible to produce latex foam for the latex mattress. This mattress will give bouncy feel and will provide pressure relief.

Waterbed is similar to air mattress. However, it conforms to the shape of body, and hence it can give good spinal alignment for the body while sleeping. More over cold or hot water is usable as per requirement. Water filled pillows are also there.

Plissee Rollos

What are Plissee Rollos?

Plissee RollosA Plissee Rollo is a covering for a window, usually attached to the interior side of a window. It simply refers to some device to hide from sight (thus "blinding" the viewer) or to reduce sunlight.

Slat blinds, which consist of many horizontal, flat slats, usually of metal or vinyl, connected with string in a way that they can be rotated to allow light to pass between the slats, rotated up to about 170 degrees to hide the light, or pulled up so that the entire window is clear. (So special version pulling up diagonally or even down — mostly motorized or with hand winder). The rotation of the blinds is achieved by rotating a connector attached to the strings or by pulling a cord; the raising and lowering of the blinds is achieved by pulling a different string. However, there also exist versions with a winding mechanisms that combine both functions into one winding rod and can also be used for motorization.

It is interesting to note that the ancient Egyptians first used blinds in an effort to control the heat. Etchings on the walls of some Egyptian tombs show horizontal blinds constructed of reeds. The Egyptian slaves were depicted pouring water over these vertical reed blinds in an effort to cool the rooms of the Egyptians.

The most common window covering during the 19th century was the roller shade. It was inexpensive, could be made at home, blocked direct sunlight, offered privacy, and gave some protection from insects. There were basically three type of roller shades. One was generally made of fine linen and came in a variety of colors. Another alternative was the transparent shade made of artist's tracing cloth. And lastly the roller shade made of oilcloth, which was opaque.

Blinds are an effective and somewhat inexpensive way to cover your windows. They lend a sense of privacy to the interior of your home, yet they allow in light or heat if you prefer. Which blinds are right for you?

Plissee Rollos are window coverings composed of long strips of fabric or rigid material. Examples include shutters, Venetian blinds, roller shades and curtain-like track blinds. In Britain awnings are also considered blinds. A blind limits observation and thus “blinds” the observer to the view. The main types are slat blinds which can be opened in two ways and solid blinds.

Slat blinds have long strips called slats. These can be rotated to open the blind while it is still covering the window. In track blinds the slats hang vertically from one end. In Venetian blinds and mini blinds the slats are suspended horizontally on cords. A slat blind can also be opened so it is no longer covering the window.

Smart Pillows

Smart pillows make use of computer memory for detecting snoring and it adjusts the airflow inside pillow, to reduce the effect snoring noise of the partner. DuPont hybrid technology creates a small membrane like structure in mattresses and pillows and it filters irritants for lung like pollen, fungal spores, pet dander, old and many more. More over it helps in maintaining the cooler temperature for a sound sleep.

Memory foam is polyurethane foam, which has visco-elastic properties. Memory foam mattress, memory foam pillows, memory foam toppers are the three main products based on memory foam.

Memory foam contains billions of small cells, and when there is exertion of force, inter cell air movement takes place. There fore memory foam mattress, memory foam pillows, and memory foam toppers, conform to the body and head with the balancing of airflow between air cells. You can use memory foam toppers along with any mattress or bed.

Memory foam pillows are lightweight and less firm. Memory foam pillows are better than all other pillows. It is important to have both Memory foam pillows and memory foam mattress together for better results.

Memory foam mattress and memory foam toppers can adjust the body temperature, as there is sophisticated airflow system in both of them. You can use memory foam toppers over memory foam mattress for better comfort.
