The Technology Behind Conference and Office Chairs
With the new technology behind conference and office chairs improving daily there are many choices on the market
for these products.
These chairs focus on comfort and health making them a great option for workers
who for long periods of time.
One type of new technology employed in the making of conference and office chairs is a rotating axis. This axis
is an oval shaped swivel that the seat of the chair is attached to and it allows for movement.
Whenever these chairs are moved they exercise the body. This improves circulation to back, legs, and other parts
of the body. If you sit at a desk for a long period of time, these chairs will keep your extremities from becoming
numb.
The unique design of these office and conference chairs also makes you sit properly. The technology behind conference and office chairs that contain this
type of swivel does not let you slouch or relax when seated. The chair will make you sit with proper posture
during your long days.
Orthopedic chairs are another type of chair that has benefited from the technology behind conference and office
chairs. Orthopedic chairs have been produced and sold for many years but advances in technology have vastly
improved their benefits.
Orthopedic chairs look similar to regular conference and office chairs but give much more support. These chairs
have many of the same advantages as the swivel axis chairs and support proper posture. Unfortunately these chairs
do not help improve circulation.
Many employers are switching to more orthopedically friendly chairs like the Konferenzstühle or even Drehstühle
variety. The instances of back injuries are increasing and uncomfortable chairs only add to the problem. As
employers began to realize how any employees were missing work due to back problems they made changes in their
office furniture.
Jon Keening, manager of a large American telecommunications and cable company, says he has noticed improved work
production since switching to new office chairs.
“Our company was seeing a great number of preventable work absences and low production from workers that did
show up on a daily basis. Our human resources office was the first to recognize the connection of low production
and absences to back problems. We quickly implemented a questionnaire that gave us surprising results.”
Keening goes on to say that once they got their answers they discovered that over 54 percent of their workers
suffered from some form of back pain.
Also, they were able to use this information to determine that many of these same workers had the highest number
of absences and lower production rates. Taking all of this information into account the company purchased new
chairs for every office and conference room.
After a year Keening’s company looked at their numbers and found significant increases in production and fewer
absences. “The upfront lay out was huge for all these chairs. But they quickly paid for themselves by cutting
absences and increasing production.” – All thanks to the technology behind conference and office chairs.
