What makes one cell chip "smart"? What technology is contained in the body of my PDA, for example, makes the power of my camera? In my first two series of articles dissecting a smart battery, I discussed some of the specialized equipment in the battery including connector smart fuze, charge and discharge FETs, the package of the cell, and the resistance of sense.
