NTP servers are used mainly to provide accurate time stamps for certain critical applications. There is always a possibility that someone May damage NTP time stamps and provide a bad time for the network device and thus leads to critical problems. Therefore, to avoid these security vulnerabilities on the client and the network server must authenticate, and here is a summary of the mechanisms used by the NTP server and client to authenticate themselves.Â
With these in place authentication, the client sends the request to the NTP time server. The server responds to this request with the seal the exact time and also some encryption keys. Upon receiving the response, the client receives the keys and decrypted. After decrypting the client checks the local database for valid NTP server and then make sure that the timestamp is not cut in any way. For the main encryption client and server agree to use the MD5 standard encryption.Â
This is a cryptographic hash function 128 bits that can be used to encrypt password. In this process of authentication of client and server keys, according to NTP. These keys used by the server and client are usually stored in the file 'ntp.keys and this file is a private can not be accessed by others. I tried using the AMD Opteron 1216 (AM2) on this motherboard, this combination worked before, but for some Windows XP has been given joint errors. Well, Tyan server boards are the best of Asus. Asus is really the best, and you they must keep. But if you need advice server willing to pay for Tyan. As I said, I'd choose Asus.
