Question by Tommy: Comparing HP and ASUS notebooks, which one is more durable and reliable?
Specifically speaking, HP HDX16t and the ASUS G71Gx.
I’m looking in terms of how long it would last mostly. Assuming I’m not doing anything stupid with it like dropping it or smashing on keyboards or hardware.
Assume its just going to sit on a desk and be used like an average notebook.

Not specifically but personally HP is good but not good enough HP has issues like crashing, freezing, battery life etc. Asus is the better bet the good part about Asus is that it makes its own Motherboard as well as parts is all made by the same company unlike usual brands that buy they all their parts from different companies and put it on one name.
The Asus that I like has up to 7 hours in battery life & its awesome.. rarely any crashing etc. So ASUS all the way.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about Asus when it comes to motherboards, but I haven’t heard too many reviews on there laptops. In fact, I spent several months searching through this site and many others and didn’t come up with a lot of responses to asus notebooks. However, I just made a purchase on the HP HDX16T. HP has a 250 instate rebate, free blue ray drive, and a couple of nice free upgrades. The HDX also has a lot of good ratings on amazon, newegg, and a couple of other sites.
