Computer Technology of the Future
In the old movie “Back to the Future” there were
technologies that many only dream about. The future of computer
technology actually remains to be seen but what is very evident
is that if past circumstances are an indication then computer
technology of the future will reach outstanding levels.
In the last twenty years there has been such a significant
increase in just the processing speed of computers that many
people are still in awe of the technology involved. Network
capacities and internet speeds have also seen substantial
improvements over the last few years.
These advances pave the way for even greater developments
such as quantum physics, artificial intelligence and
nanotechnology.
Scientists are currently attempting to use nanotechnology to
make tiny chips, electrical conductors and logic gates. Chips
can be built with nanotechnology one atom at a time. This
alleviates wasted space and makes it possible for much smaller
devices to be developed.
Logic gates can be composed of only a very few atoms and
electrical conductors will be thinner than many ever dreamed
possible.
Biochemical nanocomputers are also a thing of the future. In
order to create a chemical nanocomputer engineers must be able
to control atoms individually as well as molecules so that they
can be made to perform distinct and controllable calculations
and storage tasks.
These are however, a computer that scientists expect to be
using in the not so far off future.
Scientists are also working to create Nanorobots that will
serve as antibodies when programmed. These will protect against
bacteria that are pathogenic as well as viruses that mutate and
typically are immune to remedy.
Nanorobots are expected to overcome this problem by
reprogramming to destroy new pathogens. They are predicted to
be a large development in the industry of medical science and
could prove to be very important in the future of our
society.
Quantum computers use quantum mechanicals to process data.
Quantum computers can perform a larger number of operations in
parallel than typical computers. They will prove to be very
useful for running simulations of quantum mechanics.
They will be a great benefit to physics, chemistry,
materials science, nanotechnology, biology and even medicine.
Advancement in these fields is currently limited because of the
slow speed of quantum mechanical simulations.
The use of quantum computers will greatly increase the speed
at which these fields can see new developments.
Of course when you are contemplating the future of computer
technology you will instantly ponder whether or not artificial
intelligence will come to life. This branch of research seeks
to develop computers who will ultimately behave just like
humans.
The research includes programming that will help computers
to make decisions based on real life instances. They will be
programmed to understand and respond to human language, play
games, react to sensory stimuli and mimic human
intelligence.
Although artificial intelligence is a term that has been in
use since the 1950s, small strides have been made up until this
point. Researchers are seeing new developments in this field
and the future of computer technology will definitely see some
changes in the artificial intelligence topic.
Many people ponder what the future holds. The future of
computer technology is one aspect of the future that some are
unsure of. Whether we will see computers behaving like humans

likely chance that whatever developments we do see will be
