Employment in the field is typically through a healthcare facility such as a hospital, doctor’s office, clinic or nursing home. The job outlook for health information technology is good. Those possessing degrees have the option of a wide variety of different positions such as technicians, supervisors, coordinators, assistant directors and many others.

Typically students entering the field study courses such as human anatomy and many medical term related classes.

Those working in health information technology are typically found performing a variety of tasks including electronic record keeping. Due to privacy matters in the healthcare field today the need for IT professionals in healthcare information has increased significantly.
