I want to go wireless on my desktop, but do not know what I need the PCI card?
Im am relatively new to computers, but I was online on my Packard Bell I-Connect Desktop (which is a bit old) in the final year of broadband, but I want to go .. without IV over done a little research, Am I right in thinking that I need to install a PCI card inside your computer? If yes, where? not depend on my motherboard?
Hi Romeo wireless office, s are becoming more popular as many children fall ill with RJ-45 cable network in all directions and better quality and better support all wireless routers wireless standard, including the latest "802.11n" standard theres never been a better time to go wireless for a desk, you will need loads of 32 bit PCI wireless network card, and there is still choice, because I have better connectivity would get something like "Wireless N PCI Adapter" from http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/ Devices / Network + Products / Wireless / AC Adapter + – +% 2FPCI PCI-E + / + N + Wireless PCI Adapter + +? productId = 33,639 This is part of a standard PCI slot 32-bit (all 32 slots bit PCI) and supports 802.11n (draft 2.0), 802.11g, 802.11b WiFi PCI technology has a range of 300 meters and speeds up to 300 MB / s (excellent) has all the standard safety features such as WEP and WPA WP a plus most recent 2, and is fully Plug and Play for an instantaneous configuration of another model worth considering is the Belkin 125MB Wireless Desktop PCI network card (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Peripherals/Network+Products/Wireless/Adapter+-+PCI % 2FPCI + E-Cards / Belkin 125MB Wireless Desktop + + + + + + + PCI NIC? productId = 27388), it is very similar to the above map but does not support that the 802.11b standard and nonstandard "N", but need a router compatible with the n before you can use 802.11n, it is to be thin on the ground (the new BT Home Hub allows 802.11n) to install the card is simply a case of opening your PC and locate a free PCI slot and disposal the mounting plate and insert the card and screws to fix the map, aerial map and screwed into the card once installed, do not try to adapt map allready equipped with the antenna because it will be very difficult once turned on your PC when you are prompted to insert the driver disk (supplied) and run the wizard to configure your new wireless PCI card Once completed, you can use the card integrated into the software to find a network or wireless using Windows XP SP2 "Radio-device wizard, but both allow you to connect to a wireless network for security such as encryption default used in the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), however, it is not safe as it once was, but it's better than no security all the other option called WPA, or Wi-Fi Protected Access is much more secure and uses encryption keys makes it more difficult to hack, and i introduced a new algorithm based on AES, CCMP, which is considered absolutely safe. Hope this helps, however, problems Notify me luck Romeo!
