Your Comcast box can go into the slot HDMI 1 and player DVD player can go into the HDMI 2 slot, if available. Otherwise your DVD player can connect to the back of the television using component cables (red, blue, green) cables. It sounds like you have the power to go to the DVD player, but there is no signal coming out of it to enter the actual televison. Tension lines and the signal lines are completely different.
